Healing Arts South Australia is the first of its kind in the nation and in the Southern Hemisphere. As part of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab’s global outreach campaign in collaboration with the World Health Organization, this landmark initiative for South Australia will celebrate the role of the arts, creative and cultural expression in promoting health, wellbeing and social equity.

Held annually on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, UNGA Healing Arts Week is a dynamic program of events celebrating innovative approaches to global health and well-being through the arts. The 2026 edition will include the official launch of the JA&HL-Lancet Collection, a Well-Being Concert at Carnegie Hall, creative aging talks and conferences at Lincoln Center, as well as a host of other events all through the 5 boroughs of NYC.

The project brings together government and international institutions, healthcare professionals, educators, artists, and mental health practitioners working to integrate arts-based approaches into Ukraine's mental health and psychosocial support systems.

The Lab hosted a panel discussion at SXSW London, bringing together rigorous scientific evidence with artistic intuition to explore both the opportunity and the tension in proposing the arts as essential infrastructure for healthier societies, including Prof. Daisy Fancourt, Ren Gill, Lakwena Maciver, Cedar Lewisohn, and Stephen Stapleton.

At the Houses of Parliament, policymakers, clinicians, researchers, and artists gathered to ask how the UK - already a world leader in arts and health - can build that strength into the centre of health policy.

Edge Hill University’s pioneering mental health project Arts4Us joined forces with Shakespeare North Playhouse to debut a showcase exploring heritage, creativity and wellbeing, led by young people.

Healing Arts Birmingham was a city-wide initiative co-led by Birmingham City Council, demonstrating how arts, culture, and heritage can transform health, wellbeing, and social equity across the midlands with over 120 events across the week.

The Jameel Arts & Health Lab, in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe and John Slinger MP, convened a high-level roundtable at the House of Commons bringing together Members of Parliament, researchers, veterans, artists, and medical practitioners, on Healing Arts in Times of War.

Healing Arts Scotland is a bi-annual celebration of the role of the arts to improve health and wellbeing. Launched in partnership with Scottish Ballet in 2024, and co-produced by a national coalition of organisations bridging culture, healthcare, education and policy, the initiative is designed to embed the arts into public health and community well-being across Scotland.
