SXSW London | Healing Arts: Art Cure?

A special panel that brought together leading voices from science and the arts to explore one of the most provocative ideas in health today: that creative participation isn't a luxury - it's a health behaviour. Featuring Prof. Daisy Fancourt, Ren Gill, Lakwena Maciver, Cedar Lewisohn, and Stephen Stapleton

The Lab returns to SXSW London for its 2026 edition, bringing together rigorous scientific evidence with artistic intuition to explore both the opportunity and the tension in proposing the arts as essential infrastructure for healthier societies.

Expect an exchange of ideas, as artistic and scientific perspectives diverge and converge around one central question: can the arts be understood - and valued - as a health behaviour?

The panel discussion will be followed by a book signing by Prof. Daisy Fancourt (Professor of Psychobiology & Epidemiology, UCL | UNESCO Chair in Arts & Global Health | Steering Committee Chair,
Jameel Arts & Health Lab).

Professor Daisy Fancourt, one of the world's leading experts in arts and health, joins our panel fresh from the launch of her Sunday Times and Amazon Bestseller Art Cure — shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction 2026.
