ARTIS Lab

University of Vienna

At the ARTIS (Art and Research on Transformations of Individuals and Societies) Lab, we are focused on exploring, understanding, and applying, the cognitive, affective, and neurophysiological processes and implications in our interactions with the designed environment and with visual art. We have a particular emphasis on developing novel theoretical and empirical methods for tackling profound, transformative, or emotional experiences, for ecologically-valid onsite study, for considering visual art creation and creativity, and ultimately for connecting art's diverse implications (for wellbeing, for personal development, for societal challenges) to actual evidence and mechanisms for how and when this might, and could happen.
