International Arts + Mind Lab Center for Applied Neuroaesthetics

Johns Hopkins University

The International Arts + Mind Lab (IAM Lab) is a multidisciplinary research-to-practice initiative from the Pedersen Brain Science Institute at Johns Hopkins University that is accelerating the field of neuroaesthetics or neuroarts. Our mission is to amplify human potential through the arts and aesthetic experiences.

IAM Lab is pioneering Impact Thinking, a translational research approach designed to solve intractable problems in health, well-being, and learning through the arts. We bring together brain scientists and practitioners in the visual and performing arts, architecture and design, and creative arts therapies to foster collaboration and research.

In partnership with the Aspen Institute, the IAM Lab co-chairs the NeuroArts Blueprint. The goal of this global initiative is to ensure that the arts and the use of the arts – in all of its many forms – become part of mainstream medicine and public health.
