On 25 October 2023 Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health hosted the Arts and Health Roundtable: Research to Policy in Riyadh, organised with the Jameel Arts & Health Lab and AEON Collective. It formed part of Healing Arts Arabia (22 to 26 October 2023), a Saudi-led regional initiative and part of the World Health Organization's 75th anniversary programme.
Hosted by Dr Muhammad Al-Abdulaali, Assistant Minister of Health, the roundtable drew on the Lab's research to explore current and potential strategies to improve wellbeing and health outcomes as the national health service undergoes transformational change. Christopher Bailey, Founding Co-Director of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, spoke. Dr Al-Abdulaali said the Ministry was open to evidence-based approaches that deliver healthcare impact, including the arts.
The roundtable proposed identifying a pilot study to assess the impact of the arts in a priority health sector.
