Jernie Millán (she/her) is the Coordinator for the Healing Arts New York Network under the Jameel Arts & Health Lab. Her role serves as managing the coordination of our Healing Arts NYC network in collaboration with NYC artists, creative art therapists, practitioners, organizations, community leaders, public sector advocates, and the Lab’s NYC Steering Committee.
Most recently, Jernie served as the inaugural Community Arts Coordinator with the University of Florida Health Shands Arts in Medicine program, launching their first Arts Prescribing programs with people living with or closely affected by sickle cell disease, and a program for youth mental health promotion. Jernie identifies as a multidisciplinary artist deeply rooted in vocal music, actively performing in and around the East Coast of the US since 2000. Her experimental approach merges decades of musical curiosity, excellence, cultural exposure, and classical training, blending jazz, R&B, pop, and ambient styles within one sound palette. In addition to program management and performance, Jernie facilitates improvisational circle singing. She is a proud member of the New York Vocal Collective, the Barbershop Harmony Society, and a sounding Board member for We Rock Gainesville. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree, with a minor in Recording Industry Management.
